We have been enabling travel for more than 25 years. Explore our history, key milestones & timelines and values that have made our successes and growth possible.
In 1998, Webjet began as a small start-up seeking to disrupt traditional norms in the highly competitive online travel industry. In just over 10 years, Webjet OTA became the #1 OTA in the Australian and New Zealand market. Our success was fuelled by a culture founded on customer focus, innovation, and creativity.
We took this culture overseas in 2013 when we established WebBeds in Dubai, and again sought to disrupt the industry, although this time in B2B travel trade (wholesale) distribution. In just over 6 years, WebBeds became the #2 global B2B provider.
And then in 2016, we acquired GoSee (then Online Republic) as we saw a company with massive potential, with a culture that was extremely similar to ours and with established leadership positions in their travel B2C travel verticals. We acquired travel technology company Trip Ninja in 2021 to enhance our Webjet OTA offering supporting one of our values of always being the challenger brand.
In 2024, Webjet Group Limited (ASX:WJL - comprising the B2C businesses of Webjet OTA, GoSee and Trip Ninja) demerged from Webjet Limited creating two independent and simplified companies, improving their abilities to pursue independent strategic priorities and growth agendas relevant to each business. As part of the demerger, Webjet Limited changed its name to Web Travel Group Limited (ASX:WEB).
Today, our global B2B organisation, servicing the travel industry, connects hotels and other travel sellers to a diverse network of travel buyers all over the world through our trade only digital travel marketplace brand – WebBeds.
